Hello, beautiful friends! How are you?! Happy Monday! In breaking news: 1.- I resurrected my Instagram!! and 2.- I can not believe Target has put Pumpkin smelling cleaning products on their shelves!! Guys, we are not in Fall yet!
Okay now that that's out of the way, here's our Staycation at The Sawyer in Downtown Sacramento! What a great way to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary!
The room was delightful and full of light! Doug thought it was cool that they had little reading lights on the headboard of the bed! He wears a baseball hat with a little lamp on the tip when he's reading in bed with me! So, to see this in place for his night reading made him truly excited!
The rooms feel so sleek and chic! I thought we were really far away in a "real" vacation! And even though we only had one night away, we decided to make the most of it! What Doug and I are learning in life is that it's the ordinary moments, strung together with occasional extraordinary ones that are building our family's story! We are learning to be intentionally grateful! We delighted in the room so much we felt like little kids looking at all The Sawyer had in store!
One of the things that I absolutely LOVE about my job is that I get to meet amazing humans along the way. As I checked in the hotel (I came by myself to check in before Doug got off of work) Alonzo checked me in. He was so genuinely excited for us to be celebrating such a special occasion at the hotel, he said he would sneak into our room and leave a surprise for us. When Doug and I walked in, we found our room full of surprises! A ridiculously kind note from Alonzo and The Sawyer team (which to me was the BEST part of celebrating here) as well as a very well curated smorgasbord of cheese, fruit and delectable chocolates!
Then we found a little surprise in the bathroom with bath salts and bubble bath and it was on! Celebration time! If you know what I mean!
I mean hello, look at this tub!!!! It made me more excited than my kids at bath time with a Lush bomb!
We headed out to dinner downstairs at Eco + Rig and I ordered the fried spinach salad to go since Doug really wanted to explore the food out and around the area! There are a lot of walking distance places to eat along K street! Doug ended up getting a sandwich form Sauced! And the salad was AMAZING! I don't say that lightly, friends! It was legit one of my favorite salads of all time. So interesting yet so delicious!
Because it was so close to the hotel (sorry, salted caramel macaron from Ginger Elizabeth ((you're still my favorite))! Doug got some treats at ESTELLE! It was so beautiful in there it really felt like a treat just being inside their store. It is beautiful! And Doug was so pleased they had milk for him to enjoy with his dessert!
As the sun went down we explored more of the hotel and went into to the pool area! It closes at 7PM and we were there after so we didn't dip in but we enjoyed the view and the gorgeous breeze at the rooftop! It's the little things guys!! It's the little things! If you want to see our staycation in action tune in Wednesday at 7pm on my YouTube channel as we'll have the vlog live! There was a very special surprise you can't miss!
The morning started off so early and I walked to the very snazzy Starbucks near the hotel! I got some coffee and then got back in my robe after doing a full face of makeup for my TV segment and posed for this photo so you could think I woke up like this and that's what I did at The Sawyer! Hahahaha Keeping it real friends! I just really wanted a picture under the very snuggly white sheets! Kimpton, would you consider styling my bed at home!? I would love to have all the pillows and bedding you have, anyone else ever just want to purchase the exact bedding from a comfy hotel bed?
The pool opens at 6 am so Doug and I took advantage and relaxed by the pool and thanked God for his amazing love in allowing us to be married for 10 years! When we started going into The Wilderness it was exactly when all the demolition of K street began for the construction of The Golden One center. Every time I drove by I just felt like what those bulldozers where doing to K street mall, God was doing to my heart. Demolishing toxic believes that had kept me captive to fear for so long. It was such a painful season but God would remind me that there was a vision for restoring me to something more beautiful than I could've ever imagined. That I could trust him and his timing. So I did. With every fiber of my being I thanked God in my pain and believed for a better me.
As I sat in this amazingly beautiful place with my beloved husband (who is behind the lens, thank you Douggie!) I felt so grateful. All these years of "construction" have been worth it! The vision now is a reality! The way my heart feels now is rich and full of joy and life! Just like this new gorgeous hotel! I was standing on the new ground and simultaneously enjoying the same good soil that God planted after removing toxicity out of my life! I feel fully known, loved and accepted by my Heavenly Father. I live with purpose and joy because of Jesus!
I am in the promised land of my heart in where I believe and know that in Christ I am enough. "He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." Psalm 40:2
Friends if he could rebuild me, he can rebuild anyone. I am still very much a work in progress I don't claim to be done. But I am not who I used to be and neither is Doug. We only have Jesus to thank for that! Wherever you are at in your journey, I want to encourage you! Don't give up! Come near to God and he'll come near to you (James 4:8)" You've got this! I love you! Thank you so much for reading!
