OUR VALENTINE'S DAY DATE NIGHT | The Sacramento Edit
My husband and I are all about dating each other! We schedule and budget for our 2 dates per month before the new month even begins. We know that it’s important to keep that fun spirit of dating each-other alive even in our 10 years of marriage!
This particular February we decided to take our dates to the next level by each one of us doing a surprise date for the other one! This past Saturday was Doug’s turn to make a, Libier-inspired. date! He surprised me by taking me to the mall ( I thought I was going to get to shop, haha) but we enjoyed 15 minutes of back massages at the Relaxation Zone at Arden Fair Mall! It was so nice to start that way, my back really needed some help! It was a quick and very inexpensive way to start us both out without stress knots on our backs! Even though I didn’t get anything while I was at the mall (gasps) I still enjoyed his thoughtfulness of starting off with mini-relaxation that truly got my back feeling so much better.
We believe that no matter what budget you have there is always something you can do to spend intentional time together and keep that fire in your heart for one-another! After our massages we headed to midtown and we found this amazing backdrop of the oldest Fire Station in Sacramento! Of course we took photos there! It was such a gorgeous location!
After our photoshoot we visited Ginger Elizabeth! It is my FAVORITE place to get a delectable and in my opinion the best Macaron I’ve ever tried in my life! I LOVE the Salty Caramel , so of course I got two! Doug tried the Rose infused Macaron & his old time fav, the Almond Vanilla! We tucked these away for later to enjoy at home as we watched one of our favorite shows! Anyone for the best part of date night is coming home to PJ’s and a vegging in front of your favorite show? Yes, us too!
After Ginger Elizabeth’s, we headed to dinner to one of my ultimate favorite restaurants in Sacramento, Canon! It is a delightful place with incredibly chic vibes and the food is DEVINE! Seriously, their food is art!
We ran into dinner covering our heads from the rain! I ordered a hot tea to start off. Doug and I decided to share the Flatbread & Hummus, it was my favorite as the bread came warm, it was the most delicious combo as we paired it with the Tamarind Consommé with Coconut Dumplings.
For our main course, we choose the Adobo Fried Chicken and the Broccoli Stir Fry, which was my favorite item from the dinner! For dessert we enjoyed the apple with pecans and caramelo in the middle! Such a great ambiance and service!
No matter what budget we’ve had in our marriage making a point to celebrate our relationship will always take priority! Doug and I are not a perfect couple by ANY means, we just have chosen to be for each-other time and time again. Through MANY difficulties and challenges.
Our favorite verse about love was one we used for our wedding and I love it because it is always a good reminder that the way we are to love one-another is being able to enjoy the love of Christ for ourselves. When we are close to Jesus we are closer to each other.
”Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
Love never fails. -1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
I hope you found some inspiration for your own date night this Valentine’s Day! Love the people you love well! With the certainty that you are enough for them because Jesus loves and sees YOU in every way. And his love for YOU, will never fade. He is always going to pursue you and be your very own-best-Valentine!
