Hello beloved friend!! Happy Fall to you. I’m smiling ear to ear right now because I’m looking at a gorgeous little Fall pumpkin floral centerpiece I created and I’m wearing a sweater, and I’m not sweating!! It’s starting to really feel like Fall around here and the change of weather makes my heart sing with joy!
What is it about the crispness of a cool morning that sends so much happiness to my soul? Does it to yours as well? I think for me it might be hope for something different. A new chapter, a new beginning, a fresh start.
FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT LOCATION IDEAS
Find a parking garage that has a rooftop in your hometown. You’ll be surprised at what you can see from above some of these places. These specific family photos were shot on a rooftop in Sacramento!
Devote a day to driving around where you live to scope out a beautiful field that would be a good fit for your vision. Places that have easy access to parking and are easy to walk to, are best since you want to be kind to your photographer and family. But typically an outdoor family photo against nature is golden for those Christmas cards!
Special landmarks in your city, are a great location to shoot (just make sure you don’t need a special permit to do so).
You can always have the shoot in your home if you want those home-cozy-vibes. Ask your photographer if they have a backdrop (usually they do or can get one for you) And you’ll have studio-quality photos from the comfort of your own home. * Make sure you do work out the timing as lighting is key for your family portraits to look good.

We just did family photos a couple of weeks ago and it was a true Olympic event. I was sweating bullets. I got a blister, I blew up at my husband and my children. You know the fun way to enjoy photos that are supposed to trademark how we have it “together” as a family. hahaha, What a humbling experience.
In hindsight, I have some wisdom to share with you for your very own Family Photos down below. I have also shopped for some of the cutest black dresses, in my opinion, and I’ve rounded up some that are worth checking out, also down below!
HUSBAND OUTFIT : tuxedo jacket / tuxedo pants / White Shirt / Bow Tie / Shoes *all similar items
DAUGHTER’S OUTFIT : skirt / shoes/ tonal kids socks / sweater / bow (similar ) / smiles = priceless
I mean can I just squeeze these two!? They were really photo champs. We did have a few moments of stress but then I reminded myself that nothing is perfect and my hope was that we would capture the joy of family! And Tori, the photographer said to me, “We do want them wanting to take photos again.” lol yes, yes that’s true. So treat them…..niiiiicely? It is so easy to get caught up in the stress of something important but I have to remind myself that my kids hearts are way more important to me. So I truly apologized to my children for my rude behavior.
How I walk, they’ll walk…..

I just want to remember on the days when our relationship is experiencing those heated conversations how much I love this photo and how much I love this man! He is not perfect, neither am I. But we are a team with Christ at the center.
