Spring Reads For A Strong Mind | 2019 Edit
There is nothing better than understanding the value of your own brain, it really is one of our most important assets. No one can tell us to not learn and no one can stop you from managing your mental health. That’s something you have control over, thank God! To develop a student like attitude at whatever age you are, will give you the insight of childlike faith that can set the tone for the rest of your days. No matter what your past has been, you can always count on a bright future because God is with you and you have an incredible mind made in HIS image, that when managed well and fed well, can perform at maximum capacity! I believe our lives start in our mind and the more we learn about ourselves through reading books and apply the wisdom to our lives, the better quality life we can enjoy!
I’ve grown to love reading for many reasons. I didn’t always enjoy it to be honest, it wasn’t until I became an adult and realized I didn’t finish college and felt a lot of shame surrounding my level of knowledge. I learned from God that knowledge doesn’t add or detract value from us humans. And from that belief of feeling loved no matter the state of my mind, I truly felt the fire in my heart to learn just for the sake of learning! So my mindset became eager to learn from any person I could. Maybe I couldn’t hang out personally with the people I admired, but I could read their books! My college became people and books. Once I caught wind of the love of Jesus, I knew I wanted to know more about him and reading the bible became interesting, however it felt daunting to even start. That’s why Jesus Calling was such an excellent little book with a few scriptures broken down each day to start my journey! If you’re like me ( a little intimidated by the bible to begin with) I hope you’ll give Jesus Calling a shot. It’s one of the books that has really shaped who I am today. Eventually I grew up and now I love reading my bible. In fact, I believe my life is where it is because of the power of the word of God. My healing, my comfort, my hope, my love and my compassion. All I needed was all in those pages, so I will say that the Bible is straight up my favorite book to read. I am so excited to read it more and more through out my life and continue to learn from God about his love and grace towards me.
I’ve also included some of the books that really have blown my mind and made me stronger within! Especially Through The Wilderness ! It was my bookaversary on 3/21! One year of my memoir being published. Writing and reading the story of Jesus through my heart changed my life forever and I know that it has the power to touch more lives as well because the power is in Jesus revealed through my broken story!
I hope you like this post filled with my personal top favorite books of all time that haver really transformed me and helped shape the woman I am today!
