FROM MY HEART:
The other day I had a hot dog for lunch, from the gas station. Yes, I said it, a hot dog, from the gas station. It was one of those meals where you're super hungry, so you'll eat anything.. I was rushing to pick up my girls from school, so naturally, I ate the hot dog in my car. I fixed it with delicious, yet pungent, onions and as I was chowing down, a ton of the onions fell on my lap. As I rushed out the door of my car, I swept my lap and thought I had gotten all ov'em off me. Picked up my kids, drove home and parked my car in the garage. I didn't use my car for anything else that day, so the next morning, as I stepped into my car, I smelled the familiar smell of onion. However, it wasn't appetizing since it was morning, I wasn't hungry and had no desire to smell that smell at that specific moment in time. I knew I had to find that little sucker that was stinking up my car and get it out! I looked, I found, I tossed it out, and then I rolled my windows down! Hey, that should be a song! Anyway, the next day, still smelly. Why?! Oh goodness, this was going to require a more thorough investigation. This time, I pulled my car out and envisioned myself a Hawaii Five-0 detective, I went inch by inch throughout my car, trying to find the culprit. Well, I found it alright. What I ALSO found was disgusting.
Someone might have been me, so I didn't punish any of my kids for it, left a half eaten apple in the car and it rolled underneath my seat. This apple was no longer the nice looking crunchy apple it once was, no! It was now wrinkled, browned and had grown quite a fierce furry layer that sent my gag reflex into motion. I grabbed the thing like it was the plague and seriously could NOT think straight as to how to dispose of it. I knew it wasn't going to hurt me, but there was something so gross about it. I found my courage and launched it dramatically into the trash can, then shook my body and ran to wash my hands. At first, I was so annoyed at the TINNY onion that caused that big stench, but after finding my furry friend, I was grateful it didn't do more than rot right under me, like invite friends with tails into my car that eventually would eat me alive! Okay, okay, reign it back, Libier.
Yeah, I almost died, lol. In all seriousness, God gave me the most amazing visual of my heart. It is a great indication to look under the "hood" when I have small, stinky and pesky, circumstances happen to me. I can allow my normal flesh reaction be an annoyance for that hardship. Or I can see it as a way for God getting my attention and showing me that there is something deeper rotting that needs attention and his healing. I believe I still have pain and wounds from my past that need to heal and God revealed to me that anything left without facing up-front, with courage and His word, will rot until it brings out nothing but poison into my life. I can suppress and distract, but at some point, it will come out, one way or another. I can choose to deal with my wounds, in Christ. Or have it get worse inside my soul. My choice will always be bringing it to the light no matter how painful it might be. For I know how to deal with pain. I am strong and courageous because I know at the end of the day, GOD wins! So I win. Even in my deepest pain, He will hold me while I fall apart, as He so gently massages my heart with the balm of his love. That's all, love. Know I love you and that you are beautiful! I hope you have an amazing rest of your week!
