Why Try When I Know I’m Going To Fail? | New Year- Same YOU-New hope!
Hello beloved friend. We are BACK in action! I hope you had a wonderful Holiday Season and that you’re feeling encouraged to start this 2024 year with intention, peace, and purpose!
If NOT, this blog post is for you, to find yourself encouraged to dedicate this year to growing in your faith and knowing that you can try things and fail and that doesn’t make YOU A FAILURE, it makes you brave and you will learn something from it all! I pray you’d be inspired to build good habits that are wonderful for you and to make time for what is VERY IMPORTANT; your mental health, your overall well-being, and your relationships.
And to not subscribe to the hustle and bustle of feeling like if you don’t change this year, you are not enough. That’s not the truth about you, not with Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. He is enough for you so therefore even if you don’t accomplish deedly squat in 2024 or 2025 or 2026 or 2098; you are still IMPORTANT, ENOUGH, WORTHY, AND VALUABLE; ONLY because Jesus is all those things and more! He gave up his life so you could have YOURS.
READ: Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
So no matter what you do or don’t do, his love will never go away. Your worth isn’t in what you DO OR ACCOMPLISH in one year. It’s in Jesus. Period. From that freedom, let yourself dream and become excited about your future. Pray that God would help you create a life WORTH LIVING. Pray that you can establish daily habits that will create the life you want. Pray that you’d create your business or ministry, your home, relationships, and your family life FROM the abundance of Jesus’ unfailing love. Rather than CHASING the things of the world to feel loved, or good enough...
But in the same token, he has given you his life and would love nothing more than to accomplish something THROUGH you that only you can do on this earth for HIS GLORY AND KINGDOM. I don’t know what that is, but you and God will establish that! And there lies the BEST juxtaposition of all. Knowing we don’t need to do anything to be loved by God and also understanding that we were created ON PURPOSE WITH A PURPOSE. A tension so beautiful that it drives us to be who God called us to be BY HIS POWER and at the same time find contentment IN HIM that we are enough even as we imperfectly walk out the vision and call of our lives with him. No matter if we believe we can become what God shows us or not, HE BELIEVES in you and me and once you surrender your life to God, he will pursue you relentlessly to equip you for the mission, including changing you so drastically that you start to believe in WHO YOU ARE IN HIM!
You can create from a place of abundance rather than scarcity. What a freeing concept! And Jesus accomplishes that with us. We are given living hope so that we can share it with others.
“Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.” Mathew 5:15
I know that in my life I’ve had some awful New Years where I didn’t have any hope for my life and the new year was just a cruel reminder that I had given up on my life, my dreams, and here we went AGAIN! Those years were so dead I needed a savior! And I found Jesus!
At another point in my life; the new year was like a line in the sand and I was a racehorse ready to GET IT AND MAKE IT HAPPEN. I had so much hope after Jesus restored my life a decade ago and I felt like I couldn’t run fast enough to run the race God had placed in front of me. Running that hard for so long left me EXHAUSTED AND BURNT OUT. I had the hope of Christ and a vision to work towards but I was going at it too harshly and it nearly cost me my relationships.
Now I’m learning to enjoy the seasons of life that I am in and to trust in the process rather than the outcome! I’ve learned to trust in God’s timing (or at least respect it, hahaha! ) still a work in progress here! He’s taught me to feel confident that when he wants to move he will. All I have to do is be diligent to show up and do the work I believe he gave me, CONSISTENTLY. Rather than giving up, he’s shown me how to REST. AND REST IN HIM. To take breaks and enjoy the ordinary moments of my life. A new year is an opportunity to reset intentions for me, to align myself to the truth of Christ, and to FOLLOW HIM.
When I caught wind of the true love of Jesus, my life, the way I viewed myself, and my life’s mission changed drastically. I wanted to serve Jesus and live my life with intention so that others would know him even through my broken past. I knew to do this I would have to lay down my illusion of perfection for anything in my life. And it’s transformed my life for the better in so many ways I can’t even count them on my fingers and toes.
With my perfectionism tendencies, it was always so hard to try to do anything at the RISK OF FAILING, even if what I wanted to try promised me a better life. I would not try because I was petrified of failure and success. It felt safer to stay in the, I’m just not going to try until I can get it perfect, bucket. Ha! Now we shoot for the, better done than perfect, bucket! And the progress over perfect, bucket! Much better buckets if you ask me!
When I realized that Jesus is the only perfect one and my illusion of perfection was unattainable, I began trying things and being okay with failure. I started to look at my messes as an opportunity for growth. My life began to change and open up to so many more opportunities. But most importantly; TRUE FREEDOM INSIDE. I am not bound to perfection because I know Jesus is the only perfect one. I trust in his love for me giving me the courage to move towards the vision he’s put in my mind. And if you trust him even 1% he will show you you don’t need to worry about being “perfect” or failing. You can trust that no matter where you find yourself, friend, Jesus has your hand and he will NEVER let it go!
I BELIEVE IN YOU! God has great plans for you this 2024. Plans to give you a hope and future. Go read Jerimiah 29:11 and memorize it!
