4 Scriptures To Read When You Feel Afraid

| Corona Virus Editon

Beloved friends! This is a challenging time. This is a time full of anxiety, uncertainty, fear and loss. Would you have imagined that your 2020 was going to start with such an impact in your life? No, I didn’t either. I am so sorry for all the ways that the Corona Virus is affecting and impacting your life. I know that we are all being affected differently! And at this time what we need most is spiritual union because of all the social isolation! But when you are alone you feel alone and begin to give into feelings of fear. And I pray against that for all of us! I pray that this virus that is trying to isolate us would unify us as a human race! Where-ever you are, you are not alone! God is with you and he’s holding you by your right hand! I don’t want to call myself an expert on fear but I just want to tell you I’ve been afraid of so much, my whole life and God has really taught me a few things on my journey to becoming free from fear. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that what I think, say, read, watch and listen to will have a HUGE impact on my heart and soul and the level of fear I experience. So if you are in quarantine and have all the time in the world to consume content right now, make sure you are choosing things that are edifying to your soul! Don’t listen to garbage! Make sure that first and foremost you are listening to God’s word about you and your life. My favorite way to do this is to cling and memorize scripture to battle what I’m feeling. So if we are all feeling afraid of how this Corona Virus is going to affect our lives, we can memorize, meditate on and pray out loud the word of God that directly contradicts our fear!

I would love to share some scriptures I like to memorize and write on note cards for me to see all over my home, car, and common used places for my family to see and read out loud! Scripture has a healing power and what I’ve learned from God about fear is that I will NEVER stop feeling it. I am a human being and when something I care about is at stake, I will inevitably feel afraid to lose it. It is the moments right after the fear thought forms that is a crucial time. The thoughts I choose to keep and dwell on are what I’m going to believe and feel the effects of! I can choose to combat fear thoughts with faith or more fear thoughts that can grow into panic. You can’t have faith and fear at the same time and you can’t have fear when you’re thinking of faith. So here are my verses to encourage you at this time.

  1. “For the mountains may shake and the hills be removed; yet my unfailing LOVE for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed says the LORD who has compassion on you.” - Isaiah 54:10

  2. “He brought me out into a broad place; he rescued me, because he delighted in me.” Psalm 18:19

  3. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed (horrified) for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 * parenthesis mine

  4. “You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word.” Psalm 119: 114

Make sure you share this post with someone you love! I believe we will be victorious over this disease and come out the other side stronger than before!
