How To Color Your Hair At Home With The Colorsonic From L’Oreal + My Hair Transformation
Step 1: Choose Your Color

The first step in your hair coloring journey is choosing the right shade. L'Oréal Paris offers a vast palette, so consider your skin tone and personal style. Whether you’re looking for a bold change or a subtle refresh, take your time to select a color that resonates with you. I used their live “try on” tool via your computer video camera! It made my decision so easy and the tool was super helpful!! And I chose their color number 3 in Darkest Brown Natural!
Step 2: Prepare Your Hair + CHARGE YOUR DEVICE

Before coloring, ensure your hair is clean and dry. It’s best not to wash your hair for a day or two prior to application, as natural oils provide a barrier to protect your scalp. Put on an old shirt and gather your tools: gloves, a towel, and of course, your Colorsonic and your chosen Colorsonic Cartridge! You also want to give enough time for your Colorsonic Device to fully charge!
Step 3: Read the Instructions
While the Colorsonic is user-friendly, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with the instructions included in the kit. Understanding how to operate the device and the application process will set you up for success. I loved that L'Oréal Paris offers a ton of helpful videos to follow just scan the QR code that comes in the reusable pamphlet / reusable matt!

Step 4: Prep Colorsonic + tilt the colorsonic downwards to prep for color
Open the Colorsonic device and load in your chosen L’Oreal color. Colorsonic delivers the freshest formula possible by automatically mixing dye and developer in a perfect 1:1 ratio at the moment you press the button. The device comes with a built-in brush that distributes color evenly, making application a breeze. Make sure to secure everything as per the instructions.
Step 5: Brush your Hair +
Brush out your hair and make sure you have no tangles! This helps ensure that every strand gets the attention it deserves. I love these Tangle Teezer brushes! They are so good!!! My daughters and I all have one and they have cute colors!
Step 6: Start Coloring
With the Colorsonic ready, start applying the color by sections. Begin at the roots and pull the device through your hair, following the natural flow. The brush strokes help distribute the color evenly, minimizing any harsh lines. If you’re doing your ends change the adapter to the lengths adapter and coat all the ends of your hair. It helps if you go slowly and methodically covering every inch of your lengths. When you feel like all your hair is saturated with the formula put up and away from your face with a clip.
Step 7: Set the Timer
Once you’ve finished applying the color, check the recommended processing time on the product’s instructions. You can kick back, relax, and soak up some self-care while you wait for your vibrant new hue to develop.
Step 8: Rinse and Condition
After the timer goes off, rinse out the color thoroughly with lukewarm water until it runs clear. Follow up with the included conditioning treatment to keep your hair healthy and shiny. WOW! I can’t believe how easy this was and how I got to keep the rest of the formula for my next root touch-up!
