At Home DIY Manicure

Loves. I am all about that 'save life', right now. I'm really enjoying the new side of me and learning to save money. One thing I miss doing, though is my pedi's and mani's at the salon!  However, I've found that I truly enjoy my time at home doing my nails especially following these steps, and then patiently.....orrrrr maybe sometimes un-patiently waiting for them to dry. If you're trying to save a buck like me, or just want to treat yourself to an at-home manicure, here are my top tips for a great quality at home manicure. Video tutorial will be out on Friday along with other DIY face masks and a five minute Spring make-up look!

Here are the steps to a quality at home manicure!

1

Use equal parts, olive oil, and sugar to make a hand scrub that will leave your hands and arms super soft and moisturized. I love this so much, you can pretty much scrub anything with this! The moisture will wow you and you'll see gorgeous skin revealed!

2

Mix a little baking soda with warm water. You can add essential oils if you have them, if not it's okay! Soak your digits for a few minutes and your cuticles will be ready to be pushed back.

3

Gently push back cuticles with an "appropriate" tool or an orange stick.

4

Remove old nail polish, even if you don't have any dab a cotton with nail polish remover on your nail beds to help the polish adhere better!

5

Ready the nails for polish with a base coat. I love the Orly Bonder because it makes the polish stay a lot longer..... like 2 hours instead of 1! ha! No, seriously, it does make a difference, but sister, if you're gonna do your nails, don't be cray and start scrubbing your pots and pans sans cleaning gloves whilst dancing Salsa and then blame the polish for not working, m'k?!  Preaching to myself.

6

Apply the polish in thin coats and let the coats completely dry before moving on to a new one. Completely... again, preaching to myself!

7

Top it off with a top coat. And wait for 10 hours for it to dry! Ha! Okay more like 30 mins. Some hacks to try are ... blowdrying them.  or spraying Pam on your nails!

Friends! I'll see you on Friday with a VERY SPECIAL BLOG POST WITH A VERY SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

I hope your hands look amazing and well manicured. I love ya!
