6 Shaving + Facial Hair Removal Tips For You + Your Teen Daughter

1.- Gather Your Products

Gathering your shaving products will hopefully bring you a ton of joy! I never thought that by having a really good razor where I can pick the color of the shaft but then receive monthly refills with a subscription would be so convenient. I love love love my Billie razor and have used it exclusively for years now. It’s the BEST razor ever for all parts! You also need a few products like shaving cream and a good body exfoliant on hand; your shave sessions will be efficient, effective, and enjoyable! See what I did there? Okay, Shaving is sort of a right of passage for your life and your daughter’s and this is an opportunity you can use to help her understand the importance of having a plan of attack for those hairs! ha! Let this be a place where you partner with her and give her your wisdom, time, and a little help in the demonstration department so she feels confident to start shaving! Never in a million years did I think I’d be writing about shaving armpits, legs, and bikini areas. But here were are. It’s an important part of a woman’s self-care regimen so if you arm yourself with the right products you’ll be more likely to enjoy the exciting-at-first and then, sometimes-tedious, process! Below are the products that have blessed my life in the shaving department.

2.- Prepare Your Skin For Shaving

Preparing the skin is just as important as the actual shave portion. The way you prep your skin will help you by having less razor burn or bumps, and totally smooth vibes! If you exfoliate the skin beforehand with a body exfoliant, you will create a really good canvas for shaving and I like to shave (especially the bikini area) with a brand-new blade! After the shower replenish the skin with a body moisturizer! It is super important to put moisture back onto the skin after all of that exfoliation.

3.- Make Sure You Have All You Need In The Bath Or Shower BEFORE Getting In

The.worst.part.of.shaving.is.not.having.what.you.need.when.you.are.vulnerable.in.the.shower. Take everything that you need into the bath or shower before you get in make sure you have everything ready to go (including a properly clean body towel) and now you are ready to start your shaving party!

4.- Take It Slow And Steady

Slooooow and steady you hear me?! Hahaha, I know we all want to do everything fast and be busy and go, go, go. I’m trying to be less hurried at everything and I don’t like to subscribe to the word busy, I like to be intentional. So shaving is one thing that can be taken way slowly because it can be a dangerous journey if you hurry because you can really hurt yourself with the razor. So take your time and breathe and enjoy the slowing down. Think of shaving as an art form. If you do it slowly and methodically you’ll find a rhythm for it and see it as a way to really care for yourself. Being present and IN the moment is crucial! My favorite way to start is with my legs and I put a good amount of shave cream and take upward strokes from the ankle to the beginning of my knee, while I do one section, I cleanse the blade each time of the hair and shave cream with running water. Then I slowly go on my knee as it curves and allows me to cross. I take the upper leg portion and shave the whole lumper leg. Next, I take care of the armpits lift my arm place a tinny amount of shave cream on both underarms and gently glide the razor both up and down making sure I only go a couple of times in order not to irritate my skin. Less is more in that area especially to begin with. Then I finish up on my bikini area and take care of any unwanted hairs VERY CAREFULLY.

5.- Moisturize The Shaved and Exfoliated Skin

Now that you’re out of the shower make sure to pat your skin dry but not all the way, leave some moisture on your skin so your body cream will absorb even deeper and give you ultimate hydration and smooth skin! I love using a body moisturizer that has no scent like this Necessaire lotion that is certified clean at Sephora! It has no harsh ingredients and leaves the skin feeling so smooth, but very quickly absorbs so you can get dressed without feeling like your dress is gonna be stuck-on-you, you hear me? Native body lotion (this coconut & vanilla scent is soooo good, I have the deodorant) is also a good option for your daughter if you want to pick something for her that is more frugal than the other body lotion option!

6.- How To Take Care Of Your Girl-stache, Facial Hair Or Peach Fuzz

For the face, you can use a real razor or a Tiny Razors to remove your facial hair, Girl-stache and peach fuzz. No it won’t grow back thicker, if that where the case I would have a FULL GROWN BEARD by now. 🤣🤣🤣 First, cleanse the skin with a cleanser and after patting dry apply face oil for the face to give you a good canvas for shaving. Then grab your skin taught and push the razor in small downward motions. I love Sagonia Lazarof’s lovely YouTube video on how to do this process and I hope it helps you shave your stash as much as it has helped me! Thanks Sagonia for the super valuable video we all needed!
